I've never quite been able to master the art of making my photos look faded authentically, but last night I stumbled across a very simple tutorial;

which teaches you to drain the colour from a a photo without actually desaturating it entirely. The end result makes your photos look a bit like old faded postcards. Of course, having discovered the tutorial, I had to go have a play in photoshop using a photo I took of Newark Priory last year, the results of which were this;



I confess I added a couple of textures into the mix to give it a slightly 'scratchy' look also and being me had to add a little bit of sepia around the edges, but I couldn't believe quite how simple it was to acquire this effect. Thank you Rita!
