Carrie, an incredibly talented artist, recently ran a competition http://wordhoards.blogspot.com/2012/02/giveaway-winner-birthday-cake-and.html over on her blog, which I had the good fortune to win. Last week this lovely package arrived mid afternoon;-

courtesy of our very elderly postman, who, having forgotten to pick it up from the depot on his morning round, went back especially in order to give it to me because he knew I was waiting for 'summit special.' How's that for service?
My photo really doesn't do credit to Carrie's work; it literally zings with colour, movement, vibrancy and life and is a complete joy to behold;

as was this additional surprise I discovered tucked in with a note from Carrie;
- an original drawing by Carrie herself, which I'm absolutely over the moon with.
My step granddaughter, Scarlett, has fallen in love with the larger print and my mother is currently coveting the drawing, but neither of them are going to be in luck as I fully intend to go find proper frames for both pictures this weekend and will then wander around the house for a while until I find a suitable wall on which to show them off to their full advantage!
So there!
Ooooooooo! how lovely, enjoy your wanderings, and wonderings as to where they will end up.
ReplyDelete:) Glad they arrived safely Kate and really pleased that you like them enough to frame them... what a lovely compliment! Thanks very much for the lovely kind words and the link!
ReplyDeleteHopefully I'll get back on with my own blog soon and back to the painting board too, though I still feel a bit up in the air for painting yet after the house move. Still can't find the key to that pesky time machine...!
Carrie... :)
You lucky thing you! Congratulations. They're beautiful. Carrie's work is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWell done! I don't blame you keeping them for yourself, I would have done exactly the same!
