Confusing Times

Life has been hectic in my shady neck of the woods of late, particularly over the last three or four weeks. Ian's mum had begun to show increasing signs of confusion which came to a head last weekend when she attempted to get into a scalding hot bath of water unaided. Luckily she was stopped in time by her morning carer who then phoned us stating she didn't feel that she should be left on her own. Five hours later and I was literally on my knees, having listened to a manic barrage of confused thoughts and unfounded paranoia. Not good.

The GP Ian's mum is under, initially thought that her confusion was caused by a urine infection, but two lots of anti biotics down the line and a weeks stay in hospital and she's still giving cause for concern. Having watched my Nan succumb to Dementia twenty odd years ago, there's most definitely an element of familiarity in all the behaviour she's currently presenting - hiding things, paranoia, meglomania - but the Dr's as yet, seem reluctant to give us any kind of diagnosis. Stressful times for all concerned.
