Waiting for Parcels That Don't Appear

I've been waiting around three days now for parcels that don't appear when they're supposed to. The first day it was for a replacement computer battery. The company delivering it provided me with a tracking number and informed me it'd be here between 8.12 and 9.12 Wednesday morning. I was impressed. I should have known better!

9.12 am came and went (don't you just love the fact that they'd not even rounded the minutes up to the nearest ten here; it kind of gives you the impression that they really know what they're doing!), as did 10.12 - 11.12 - 12.12 ad infinitum. No battery.

Okay, thought I, maybe I've got it wrong; it's a bit of a long shot but maybe they meant PM rather than AM? Perhaps......and I realise this is possibly bordering on the ludicrous, but at this stage I was prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt......perhaps, the volcanic lava situation has meant that they have a backlog of deliveries so are working well into the evening to rectify the situation. Well, I did say it was bordering on the ludicrous! It eventually transpired that the battery had been delivered at 8.17 am precisely on the right day, but to the wrong address. They'd got the street name and number part of my address right; but had delivered it to the wrong town! Gah!

Anyway, come yesterday morning I was up bright eyed and bushy tailed, not only in expectation of taking delivery of said computer battery, which thankfully appeared at 11.28am precisely, but also of a rather nifty stamp making kit I'd purchased over the internet at the weekend. The previous evening I'd received an email telling me it was being delivered on Thursday 29th April via city link between the hours of 7.30am and 5.30pm. I can't begin to tell you how ridiculously excited I am over this as it will allow me to make my own stamps for the polymer clay tiles I've been experimenting with, rather than being dependent on using designs by other people. You can get an idea of what I mean here;

Hmm but true to form, I waited and waited and waited all day and, at the time of hurriedly typing this blog, am still waiting for a parcel that might, or might not, appear today - a day late. Grrr.

I'm lucky, in that I'm not working but I do wonder how such inefficiency affects people who take precious holiday leave in order to be around to sign for parcels that subsequently don't appear....

  1. I've had my share of problems with the postal service and other shipping services. I mailed a brooch from the US to Canada and it took 4 weeks to get across the border. Yet when I mailed one to Australia, it was there in 5 days!
    Aarrrggghhh!

  2. Oh goodness, that's ridiculous! I'm so glad I wasn't waiting for anything from overseas - I'd probably be tearing my hair out by now! Thankfully the parcel fairies took pity on me yesterday and I'm now in receipt of my kit which looks to have been well worth the wait :-)
