Here's to Our Patriotic Neighbours...

....Who, in a moment of madness, decided to organise a street party in celebration of the royal wedding. Apparently it's the first in our road since the Queen's Coronation way back in 1953, and a good time was had by all.

Just in case anyone missed the fact that we were having a knees up yesterday, someone very considerately hung a reminder on our hedge;

whilst we hung bunting around our windows;

(note to self - I really must get them repainted at some stage over the summer!)

and hung more from our upstairs bedroom window;

Vast quantities of cakes, tea and coffee were made by us all and consumed;

Whilst trestle tables groaned under all manner of delicious edibles;

consumed by newly befriended neighbours.

Children took advantage of the road being closed and played together;

and seemed to relish the notion that for one time only they'd been given permission to chalk messages on the road;

else they simply sat watching events unfurl;

as the band played on......

  2. Might be! Ack, I can't lie, it hadn't occured to me until you pointed it out - sadly! The spread was indeed scrummy bit I fear that there's not much chance of me EVER being all caked out Aaron Paul!
