Sunday Whimsy



A complete change of musical genre for me today, but so struck was I by the simple beauty of this ancient song - a Catalan lullaby, I simply had to share it. Sadly Monserrat Figueras, who sings this version, died at the end of last year following a long battle with cancer, but she's left a wonderful collection of music well worth seeking out, if, like me, you're entranced by the gentle purity of her voice and the clarity of her diction.

    Yes, a lovely piece of music. Somewhere I have recordings from her 'Hesperion' (?) days. She was a beautiful woman in many ways.

    Indeed. I love making new discoveries like this then spending time working through a particular collection of music; I get as excited as a kid in a sweet shop at times!
